  • Are You Getting Enough Good Skin Foods?
  • When we talk of good skin foods, we sometimes forget that the same diet is excellent for cardiovascular health, weight control, mood enhancement, better sleep and a whole host of other benefits. We should also bear in mind that the psychological benefits of looking younger help us to live longer. Beauty is not skin deep!

    Let us start with red and orange vegetables for a change. These are just as good, if not better than  all these greens leafy vegetables that we keep on hearing about.  I am mentioning the red and orange vegetables (pumpkin, carrots, beetroot ) as well because they are often forgotten or pushed to one side.

    Their great content of beta carotene means that this is readily converted into Vitamin A and that can help us to stop aging so fast and also keeps the cells in better condition.

    Have you tried adding nuts as a snack? They are great antioxidants and can out up a great fight against the free radicals which really damage skin cell renewal.

    Eating oranges and other citrus fruits is also another one of the good skin foods. The plentiful supply of Vitamin C means that we can produce more of our own collagen naturally. As we know collagen is the vital protein which keeps skin from aging and makes it smooth, firm and supple.

    If you have read the book called The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates, you will know how what we eat has a direct impact on our internal organs. These organs are all functioning to eliminate waste and toxins from our bodies.  They include the liver, intestines, adrenal glands and the thyroid.

    Once these start failing, we are subject to a whole host of minor ailments and complaints and may suffer from breakouts.  The latter sometimes occur because our kidneys are overworked and are feeling the strain. They are not eliminating the waste as they should.

    The same principle goes for all the other internal organs as well. That is why it is so important not to overtax them and to make sure that they are getting the most nutritional and purest organic food available. If we eat a horrible diet full of processed foods, we are overstretching these organs, and the results will be for all to see.

    So, as we have seen, good skin foods are essential for overall health but will also give us glowing healthy looking skin which will be much admired.
