If you suffer from dry skin around eyes, there could be many reasons for this. One main one is of course that the skin in that area is very thin indeed. In fact it is only about a tenth of the thickness compared to the skin on the rest of your face and body.
Another reason is that as we age, our skin is going to lose its firmness and elasticity and also we will produce much less sebum, our natural oil supply for the skin.
We will have to be very careful when we start to apply a cleanser to the face especially to the dry skin around eyes as that is such a delicate area. It is a good idea to avoid like the plague any cleansers that have the following risky, cheap ingredients. I say cheap because that is one of the main reasons why they are still produced to-day. Cheap and not so cheerful!
These cheap ingredients are parabens, such as methylparaben, mineral oils, fragrances and so on. All these are actually capable of robbing that delicate area of its vital supply of hydration. I would actually go for a cleanser that has olive oil because that remove all the dirt and grime and will leave the sebum and moisture in the skin intact. Many of the cheap cleansers remove everything, including the moisture.
Other plant oils and botanicals which are really good for dry skin beneath eyes are the jojoba oil and also avocado.
What exactly do you want in an eye serum which will revitalize the dry skin around eyes?
Well, one of the most remarkable ingredients, apart from the two I have mentioned above, is Homeo Age which is sourced from seaweed. As you can imagine, that is chock full of minerals, vitamins which are a powerhouse for tired and dry skin. In fact there are about ten different ingredients which can moisturize that delicate area. I am thinking here of babassu which can actually soften the epidermis without leaving any greasy traces at all.
What we need are rather special ingredients such as Haloxyl and Eyeliss which are great for renewing tired skin, helping to generate skin cell growth and boosting hydration levels so that dry skin around eyes is quite simply, a thing of the past.
